Job Responsibilities

The candidate will be part of the Lam supplier engineering team responsible for managing coatings and ceramics suppliers. The coatings & ceramics team is a group of talented engineers with diverse skillsets & experiences, lending itself to many learning opportunities from within the team. The supplier engineer (SE) is responsible for providing technical leadership to the assigned suppliers and manages the manufacturing process from early in product development to high volume manufacturing. SE will be the technical liaison between Lam stakeholders (engineering, productivity, product management) and assigned suppliers.

Other Job Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate manufacturing processes are in place and documented at suppliers to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner
• Develop continuous improvement plans (CIP) on existing manufacturing processes to increase first pass yield
• Develop and execute plans for failure analysis (FA) on products returned from customers as well as factory, inorganic, organic, and particle contamination and other material issues
• Conduct design reviews with cross-functional teams (CFT) or stake holders to coordinate qualification activities for supplier’s equipment, manufacturing processes to meet customer needs
• Conduct Root cause corrective action (RCCA) on quality related customer/factory escalations on coated components
• Audit suppliers for manufacturing “process of records-POR” and supplier’s “quality management systems-QMS” including change control procedures
• Conduct effective supplier visits, both domestic and international, in evaluating and managing new and existing suppliers. Assess production readiness for ramp
• Implement industry standard process control techniques such as six sigma/lean manufacturing, value stream mapping to manage and develop production efficiencies and quality for Lam products

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Education: MS degree in the following fields (but not limited to)- Materials Science & Eng, Ceramics Eng, Chemical Eng, and Chemistry
• 5+ years applicable experience specific to coating engineering, preferably in the semiconductor industry
• Prior manufacturing experience on thick- (thermal spray) & thin-film coatings (PVD, CVD etc)
• Working knowledge of Statistics Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D & 5-Whys Problem solving
• The ability to read engineering drawings-GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and identifying manufacturing limits at suppliers
• Working knowledge of multiple material characterization techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), adhesion testing, hardness testing etc
• Prior experience with MS office tools (ppt, excel, project), statistical tools (JMP, Minitab etc)
• Ability to travel domestic and international 15% -20% of the time in fast paced environment (sometimes on short notice)
