Your Responsibilities: (What is this role all about? What does the applicant have to do?)

  • Manage Industrial Relations matters, including employment misconduct, poor performance, and workplace grievances in line with Digi policies and procedures.
  • Research and explain legal positions relating to labour laws and matters concerning employment and trade union to Human Resource team members, leaders, and employees.
  • Provide consultation to leaders and employees on Digi policies and procedures on Industrial Relations matters, including employment misconduct, poor performance, and workplace grievances.
  • Design and conduct strategic IR awareness programmes for the workforce, in consultation with external IR advisors.
  • Plan and conduct HR governance audits from time to time in consultation with relevant HR stakeholders.
  • Assist the Head of Industrial Relations in organising collective bargaining negotiations and meetings with the in-house trade union and non-Union employee representative body, including collaborating with relevant stakeholders in preparation for such negotiations and meetings.
  • Manages disciplinary issues by conducting disciplinary inquiry where an allegation of misconduct has been reported i.e. conducting investigation, interviewing witnesses/accused employee, collate evidence, draft and issue show cause letter or disciplinary letters, case preparation for domestic inquiries and recommendation of appropriate disciplinary action whenever required.
  • Manage poor performance by reviewing counselling forms, assess and determine the need to place a poor performing employee on the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
  • Draft, review or revise HR policies and procedures as and when required by Digi and in accordance with the law.
  • Update the IR database, keep accurate records and prepare IR reports.
  • Get involved in projects and performs any other relevant tasks from time to time.

Your Merits: (these are must haves in terms of qualifications & experience & specific technical /professionals skills that you want from the applicant)

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Social Science or any other related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in Industrial Relations or legal services.
  • Experience in internal controls and risk management is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Labour Law including Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967.
  • Strong analytical, drafting and presentation skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Good administrative skills mainly in keeping records, preparing reports and updating database.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
